The Plutonian Times is currently accepting submisisons.
Nonfiction – Genre-related analysis or criticism, SFF book reviews, interviews, convention news and reviews, ‘big’ news stories relating to SFF books or publishing, and reading-related gadget reviews. Opinion is fine but try and relate it to something that is not an opinion. Reviews of other media, movies, rpg’s etc. are OK but the main focus will be books. Feel free to pitch an idea for a regular column.
Fiction – ‘Flash’ fiction, 400-1500 words, I’ll consider longer form short stories if they are serialized well. I intend to run a small amount of flash fiction, but will be very choosy. ‘Genre’ elements are strongly preferred. Make sure you write ‘FICTION’ at the start of the subject line in your email. Send the complete story.
Poetry – I would like an occasional poetry feature in the future so feel free to submit your poetry, again I prefer genre elements, put ‘POETRY’ at the beginning of the subject line and send your best work.
My response times will vary, so simultaneous submissions are OK. Reprints are fine as long as you haven’t given some exclusive rights to some other webzine.
Rights and Payment – The only thing that amazes me more than all the webzines asking for perpetual rights, are all the writers who go for it. I ask for exclusive electronic rights for a period of one year, after which I will either take the content down or will remove it on request from the author.
Fiction pays five dollars and fifty five cents, payed electronically. Don’t spend it all in one place. In all other cases payment is one dollar, or possibly a single (1) beer if it’s been a good month.
